Brother Scott Reid - Young Leader of the Year Award Recipient
On the eve before the inauguration of the nation’s 44th President, Scott W. Reid, was awarded the Young Lawyer of the Year Award, by the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia. The Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia presented the award to Scott Reid at their annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Annual Memorial Breakfast. Brother Reid an immediate past president of the Barristers’ was honored for his efforts both with the organization as well as his dedication to his community through his involvement with the Big Brothers program, as well as with the chapter’s Guide Right Program.
Scott W. Reid, a 1994 Kappa Gamma initiate and member of the Chester Alumni Chapter, was named chairman of the diversity committee at Cozen O’Connor Law Firm. Founded in 1970, the firm is ranked among the 100 largest law firms in the United States, serving business, insurance and private clients. In his new position, Reid will direct firm initiatives aimed at the recruitment and retention of lawyers from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
Brother Demetrice McClurkin - Biff Carder Award Recipient
Demetrice McClurkin, a 1991 Kappa Chi initiate and member of the Chester Alumni Chapter, was presented the Biff Carder Award, by his undergraduate chapter. The award is given annually to a brother that demonstrates achievement and supports the chapter’s programs. Brother McClurkin is currently the Chester Alumni Foundation President and continues to support the brothers of Kappa Chi from his suburban Philadelphia home.
The Chester (PA) Alumni Chapter was honored to win the Provincial Award for Reclamation in 2009. The chapter continues to stress bringing brothers back to Kappa.
